All questions regarding your our product.
How do I find my size?
Our compression socks come in six sizes, designed for both men and women. Sizing is based on two key measurements: your standard shoe size and your calf circumference, which is measured around the widest part of your calf.
For Medium and Large sizes, we also offer an Extended Calf option for those who need a larger, more accommodating fit. These versions maintain the same foot and leg length but feature a roomier calf area for added comfort.
If you’re between sizes, choose based on your preferred level of compression. For a firmer fit, opt for the smaller size. If you prefer milder compression, go for the larger size.

What’s the difference between the different categories of compression socks?
All BIOSx compression socks deliver the same core benefits of compression—improving circulation, reducing swelling and fatigue, and enhancing comfort. However, each category is designed with specific features, compression levels, and materials optimised for different activities and needs.
Whether you need everyday comfort, enhanced performance, travel support, heavy-duty durability, or faster recovery, there’s a BIOSx sock designed for you. Visit our product pages to explore the unique features of each style and find the perfect fit for your lifestyle.
What’s the best way to put on BIOSx compression socks?
To experience the full benefits of BIOSx compression socks, it’s important to wear them correctly. Follow these steps for the best fit and performance:
- Prepare the sock: Turn the leg inside out, leaving the foot section as a bootie.
- Slip on your foot: Place your toes into the sock and gently slide your heel in. Make sure to wear the correct sock—"R" for your right foot and "L" for your left.
- Pull up gradually: Slowly slide the sock up your calf, ensuring the fabric is evenly distributed and smooth.
- Avoid overstretching: Do not pull the sock too high or fold it over at the top.
- Proper placement: The sock should sit just below your knee for optimal compression and comfort.
How should I wash and dry my BIOSx compression socks?
To keep your BIOSx compression socks in best condition, please follow these care instructions:
- Hand wash or machine wash at a maximum temperature of 30ºC (cold wash) with similar colours.
- Avoid tumble drying—hang your socks to air dry in a shaded area, away from direct sunlight.
- Do not use bleach, fabric softeners, or dryer sheets, as they can damage the compression fibres and may reduce performance.
Is there a warranty & satisfaction guarantee on BIOSx products?
Yes! Every BIOSx product is backed by our warranty and 100-day risk-free happiness guarantee. If your BIOSx compression socks arrive damaged or don’t meet reasonable expectations, we’ll give you a full refund. We offer a 100-day satisfaction guarantee—if you’re not happy, return them, no questions asked.
Are BIOSx compression socks unisex?
Yes - all BIOSx Compression Socks are unisex, making them the perfect choice as compression socks for women and men. Each pair is anatomically designed for universal comfort and performance, whether you’re travelling, training, working long shifts, or recovering.
We size according to US and EU shoe sizes for accuracy, and also offer a wide-calf fit (up to 50cm circumference) for extra comfort. Be sure to check our size guide before ordering to ensure the perfect fit.
With BIOSx, you don’t need separate styles — our compression socks for men and women deliver the same advanced support, style, and medical-grade performance across all categories: Everyday, Travel, Performance, Workwear, and Recovery.
Does BIOSx offer wide-calf compression socks?
Yes. BIOSx offers a wide-calf fit (up to 50cm / 19.75"), making us one of the few brands in Australia catering to broader calf sizes for men and women. Available across Everyday, Travel, Performance, and Recovery ranges.
How should my compression socks feel?
The best compression socks and stockings should feel snug, supportive, and firm — but never painful. High-quality designs won’t dig into your skin or leave harsh marks. Instead, they provide a gentle, consistent pressure that supports circulation while staying comfortable all day.
- Travel Socks (15–20 mmHg): Lighter, gentle support for long flights or extended sitting, reducing swelling and discomfort.
- Everyday & Performance Socks (20–25 mmHg): Firm yet comfortable, perfect for all-day wear, long shifts, or sports.
- Recovery Socks (25–28 mmHg): Stronger (firmer) compression for post-workout recovery or medical use, still soft and supportive without restricting movement.
At BIOSx, we design comfortable compression socks in Australia using soft, sustainable fabrics that are gentle on the skin. With seamless toe boxes, cushioned soles, and wide comfort cuffs, our socks stay in place without digging in — so you get all the benefits of compression with none of the irritation.

To keep this policy viable, we unfortunately cannot cover return shipping costs.
We’re also committed to sustainability and circularity. We’re actively seeking partners to help repurpose used socks so their yarns can be safely reused in industrial applications. For any questions or return requests, contact us at support@biosx.com.au.

Once we receive your return, we’ll process your refund within 14 business days. You’ll receive an email confirmation as soon as the refund has been issued. Please note that processing times may vary depending on your payment provider.

How Compression Socks Work
Understanding the science of medical-grade compression in Australia.
How do compression socks work?
Graduated compression socks work by applying targeted pressure to your legs, strongest at the ankle and gradually decreasing toward the calf. This improves circulation, supports veins, and helps blood flow back to the heart. BIOSx offers medical-grade compression socks in Australia designed for everyday use, travel, sports performance, workwear, and recovery — so whether you’re standing all day, flying long-haul, or training hard, your legs stay energised and supported.
What are the benefits of compression socks?
Compression socks help reduce swelling, improve blood circulation, and ease tired, heavy legs. They can prevent fluid build-up, blood pooling, and conditions such as varicose veins or DVT (deep vein thrombosis). Everyday wearers, travellers, athletes, tradies, and those needing post-workout or post-surgery recovery all benefit. BIOSx Compression Socks are designed for specific needs: Everyday 24/7 support for people on their feet all day, Travel socks for long flights, Performance socks for sport, Workwear socks for tradies, and Recovery socks for faster healing.
When should you wear compression socks?
Compression socks are best worn during the day, from the moment you get up until bedtime. This helps boost circulation, reduce swelling in the legs, and lower the risk of blood clots and varicose veins. They’re especially helpful for people who sit or stand for long hours, frequent travellers, pregnant women, athletes, and anyone recovering from surgery or managing conditions such as lymphedema or POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome).
They’re usually not recommended to be worn overnight, since gravity already helps improve blood flow when your legs are elevated while lying down.
For medical conditions or post-surgery recovery, always follow your GPs or doctor’s advice on when and how long to wear compression stockings.
Are compression socks good for flying and long-distance travel?
Yes! BIOSx compression socks are highly recommended for travel, especially on long-haul flights. Sitting for extended periods can slow blood circulation in your legs, increasing the risk of swelling, discomfort, and deep vein thrombosis (DVT).
BIOSx Departures Travel Compression Socks are specifically designed with moderate compression (15–20 mmHg) to:
- Improve blood flow and circulation during long flights.
- Reduce swelling in the ankles and feet.
- Minimise discomfort, heaviness, and leg fatigue.
- Lower the risk of DVT and other travel-related circulation issues.
Whether you’re flying internationally, taking long road trips, or commuting daily, BIOSx Departures Travel Compression Socks are podiatrist-designed, TGA-listed, and trusted as some of the best travel compression socks in Australia — made specifically for travel.
Who should wear compression socks?
Compression socks are beneficial for almost everyone. They’re especially recommended for people who are managing medical conditions to individuals with specific lifestyle needs.
Individuals with medical conditions
- Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT): To help prevent blood clots and manage post-thrombotic syndrome symptoms.
- Varicose Veins: To improve blood flow, reduce heaviness, and relieve aching legs.
- Edema: To minimise swelling caused by pregnancy or chronic venous insufficiency.
- Lymphedema: To manage fluid build-up in soft tissues and support lymphatic drainage.
- Diabetes: To reduce swelling, improve circulation, and help prevent ulcers on the feet and calves
- POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome): To improve circulation and reduce symptoms linked to blood pooling in the legs.
Individuals in specific situations
- Pregnant women: To manage increased blood volume, reduce swelling, and ease discomfort.
- Surgical patients: To prevent DVT and manage post-surgery swelling, especially during recovery or immobility.
- Frequent flyers and long-distance travellers: To reduce the risk of swelling, blood pooling, and travel-related blood clots.
- People with sedentary or standing jobs: Professions such as nursing, hairdressing, teaching, retail, and office work involve long periods of sitting or standing, making compression socks essential to keep legs energised.
At BIOSx, we design compression socks specifically for these needs: Everyday for work and daily life, Travel for long-haul flights, Performance for athletes, Workwear for tradies, and Recovery for post-training or post-surgery healing. Whatever your situation, BIOSx offers some of the best compression socks in Australia to keep your legs healthy and supported.
Should I wear compression socks all day?
Yes, compression socks are safe to wear all day. They’re especially effective during long shifts, travel, or training sessions, when your legs need extra support. For the best results with swelling, put them on in the morning before fluid has a chance to build up. Unless your doctor advises otherwise, remove your compression socks before bed to let your legs rest overnight.
BIOSx Everyday 24/7 Compression Socks are designed for comfortable, all-day wear, while our Recovery Compression Socks deliver stronger support for physical rehab, post-surgery recovery, or when you need maximum circulation benefits.
Can I wear compression socks to bed?
Most people don’t need compression socks while sleeping, since lying down naturally helps circulation. Exceptions may apply if recommended by your doctor for medical conditions.
For general use, we recommend you wear them during waking hours for the best results, then let your legs rest overnight.
Are compression socks good during pregnancy?
Absolutely. Maternity-safe compression socks for women help reduce swelling, improve circulation, and prevent varicose veins during pregnancy. BIOSx Everyday 24/7 and Departures Travel Compression Socks are excellent choices for pregnant women needing extra comfort during daily life or while travelling.
What does mmHg mean in compression socks?
“mmHg” stands for millimetres of mercury — the medical unit of pressure that measures how much compression a sock applies to your legs. The higher the number, the firmer the support.
At BIOSx, we engineer different compression levels to suit specific needs:
- Travel & Workwear (15–20 mmHg): Moderate compression that improves circulation, reduces swelling, and keeps legs comfortable during long flights, commutes, or tough workdays.
- Everyday & Performance (20–25 mmHg): Firm compression for people on their feet all day, athletes in training, or anyone needing enhanced support and endurance.
- Recovery (25–28 mmHg): High compression designed to reduce swelling, accelerate recovery, and support healing after intense activity or surgery.
By offering category-specific ranges, BIOSx makes it easy to choose the best compression socks in Australia for both men and women across travel, sport, work, recovery, or everyday life.
How long should compression socks be?
Compression socks should reach just below the knee, around two fingers below the knee crease. BIOSx Compression Socks are carefully engineered to stay in place without rolling or slipping, ensuring maximum circulation support for travel, sport, work, or recovery.
Can compression socks be too tight?
Yes, compression socks can be too tight if they’re the wrong size or compression level. Properly fitted socks should feel snug and supportive, but never painful. If your socks leave deep marks, cut into your skin, cause numbness, tingling, or restrict circulation, they may be too tight.
At BIOSx, our compression socks are designed for comfort as well as performance. We use soft, breathable fabrics, wide comfort cuffs, and seamless construction so they don’t dig in or irritate the skin. With multiple compression levels from gentle Travel socks (15–20 mmHg) to strong Recovery socks (25–28 mmHg), you can choose the right support for your needs.
For the best results, always follow our sizing chart. This ensures you get the benefits of compression without discomfort, making BIOSx one of the top choices for comfortable compression socks in Australia.
