How to order with your plan

How to order compression socks with NDIS funding?

The ordering process depends on whether your funding is self-managed, plan-managed or NDIA-managed.

Self-managed

Purchase through our website and pay at checkout. Add the participant name and NDIS number so we can issue an itemised invoice for your records and claim through the participant portal or my NDIS app.

Plan-managed

Nothing out of pocket. Send us the order details, participant information and your plan manager's contact details. We will issue an itemised invoice to the plan manager for assessment and payment.

Provider account

For disability services, SIL homes and allied health practices ordering for more than one participant. Trade pricing, size runs, purchase orders and one consolidated invoice.

A note on registration. Self-managed and plan-managed participants can buy from unregistered providers, so ordering direct from us works for both. If your plan is NDIA-managed, those funds cannot be used here. Your support coordinator can talk you through the options.

What mmHg compression level is right?

Graduated compression is measured in mmHg. The higher the number, the firmer the support. Every BIOSx range is TGA-listed as a Class 1 medical device, but the compression level is not the same across them.

Frequently asked questions about NDIS and compression socks

Is BIOSx a registered NDIS provider?

No. BIOSx is not currently registered with the NDIS Commission. Self-managed and plan-managed participants are able to purchase from unregistered providers, so you can order direct from us. NDIA-managed funding can only be spent with registered providers.

Are compression socks covered by the NDIS?

Sometimes. Compression garments can be funded as low cost assistive technology or consumables where they relate to a participant's disability and the funding is reasonable and necessary. That call is not ours to make. Your plan manager, support coordinator or treating clinician is the right person to ask.

Which compression level should I choose?

It depends on the day and the reason. Departures Flight is 15–20 mmHg, Everyday 24/7 is 20–25 mmHg, and Rapid Recovery is 25–28 mmHg. If compression has been recommended clinically, follow the level your health professional advised.

Do I need a prescription or a letter?

Not to buy from us. Some plans do ask for a recommendation from an allied health professional before a claim is approved, so it is worth checking first.

What is on the BIOSx tax invoice?

Your itemised tax invoice will include our ABN, the participant’s name and NDIS number, the supply date, product details and the total amount. We can also customise the invoice to meet your plan manager’s requirements.

Can a support worker order on my behalf?

Yes. Add the participant's name and NDIS number to the order and the invoice will be issued correctly, whoever places it.

How do I find the right size?

Compression socks are fitted using both shoe size and calf measurement, not shoe size alone. Measure the calf at its widest point and check the size guide. Larger calf options are available in M and L. You can always contact us via chat, phone or email for personalised assistance.

What if the size is wrong?

Email us within 100 days and we will swap the size or refund the order. No forms, no fine print. Compression only works if it fits.

Can they be worn overnight?

BIOSx socks are designed for extended daytime wear. We recommend removing them before bed unless a medical professional has specifically advised wearing compression overnight.

How often should they be replaced?

Around every six months with regular wear. Compression fades before the sock looks worn out, which is the part most people miss. Worth building into the plan as repeat supply.
